Definition:
Enamel is the hard calcified tissue which covers the dentine of a tooth. It is
the hardest substance produced by vertebrates.
Enamel is composed almost entirely of inorganic calcium phosphate (apatite),
most of which is arranged in a crystalline lattice structure.
