The American Society of Agronomy (ASA), the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) are prominent international educational societies headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin.
"[ASA] shall strive to promote human welfare through advancing the acquisition and dissemination of scientific knowledge concerning the nature, use, improvement, and interrelationships of plants, soils, water, and environment."
"The CSSA shall strive to promote human welfare through advancing the acquisition and dissemination of scientific knowledge concerning the production and quality of food, feed, and fiber and other enhancements of quality of life, through the wise use, improvement, preservation and/or conservation of biological, land, water, and air resources."
"The mission of [SSSA] is: 1) to enhance the sustainability of soils, the environment, and society by integrating diverse scientific disciplines and principles in soil science for the wise stewardship of soil and natural resources, and 2) to advance the discovery, practice, and profession of soil science through excellence in the acquisition and application of knowledge to address challenges facing society, in the training and professional development of soil scientists, and in the education of, and communication to a diverse citizenry."
