IPCC
Established in 1988 by the WMO and
the UNEP, the role of the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is " to assess the
scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant for the understanding
of the risk of human-induced climate change."
IPCC publications are prepared by three Working Groups
(WG I, II and III) composed of hundreds of scientists from many countries. These
publications are generally recognized as providing the scientific
consensus on climate change.
The IPCC's complete Third Assessment Report (TAR), published
in 2001, is available in full in HTML on
http://www.grida.no/climate/ipcc_tar/
index.htm.
