Definition:

Actinic prurigo is a chronic, intensely itchy skin disease due to an abnormal reaction to sunlight (photosensitivity) and predominantly affecting women. It occurs mostly in individuals of darker skin types, when they are exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Treatment is mainly aimed at avoiding sun exposure.
