Definition:

A class of organic compounds. Ketones are carbon chain compounds whose molecules contain the C=O (carbonyl) functional group between two other carbon atoms. In haloketones, one or more hydrogen atoms have been substituted by halogens (chlorine, bromine, fluorine, and/or iodine). Examples of haloketones are 1,1-dichloropropanone 1,1,1-trichloropropanone.
