Inland waters are permanent water bodies inland from the coastal zone and
areas whose properties and use are dominated by the permanent, seasonal, or
intermittent occurrence of flooded conditions.
Inland waters include rivers, lakes, floodplains, reservoirs, wetlands, and
inland saline systems.
