1. Sources for this Digest

The source of the summaries for all questions but question 1 is the Fourth Global Report on
 “Anti-Tuberculosis Drug Resistance in the World“ by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD)), a report produced in 2008.

The source of the summaries for the first questions is the fact sheet no 104  by the WHO, revised in March 2007.

The Levels 1 & 2 summaries were written by Marisa Fernandez in collaboration with the GreenFacts editorial team.

Approved for publication by the GreenFacts Scientific Board.

3. Digest Publication History

First draft

The first draft of this Digest was completed by Dr. Marisa Fernandez on 26 September 2008 on the basis of a canvas prepared by the GreenFacts editorial team.

Second draft

The second draft of this Digest was produced on 5 October 2008 by the GreenFacts editorial team.

Preliminary and Peer review

The final draft of this Digest was produced on 28 November 2008 by GreenFacts after peer review by 3 independent scientists selected by the GreenFacts Scientific Board (see our  peer review form). These reviewers were:

  • Dr. Guido Groenen, Belgium’s Belta-TBnet
  • Dr. Roger Sergysels, Belgium’s Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)
  • Dr. Jérôme Robert, France’s Pierre & Marie Curie university (UPMC)

Final corrections were added under the supervision of the GreenFacts Scientific Board in December 2008.

Publication

Final publication was authorized by the President of the GreenFacts Scientific Board on 16 December 2008, and the Digest was published on 18 December 2008.
